Rensselaer Campuses to Close Early for Thanksgiving Holiday

As the festival of Thanksgiving approaches, it is a time to express gratitude, and appreciation to our family and friends. To give our community members the opportunity to spend additional time with family and friends, Rensselaer will close both the Troy and Hartford campuses early at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012.
There may be staff in critical areas who will be required to work beyond the 2:00 p.m. closing. Thus, I ask that each Vice President and Academic Dean designate the employees required to work beyond 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21. These employees will be allowed equal time off on or before December 7, 2012. Each Vice President and Dean is responsible for designating the applicable time off for staff who are deemed critical and required to work during the early closing. Additionally, I ask that you post this communication conspicuously to inform our students, visitors, and vendors of this early closing.
The time off should be coded on payroll timesheets as "other paid time" (OTH). The same code should be used for alternate time off taken before December 7, 2012 by staff deemed critical and who work beyond 2:00 p.m. on November 21.
Please be advised that staff who do not report to work for their normal work shift on Wednesday, November, 21, 2012, who have scheduled Paid Time Off ("PTO"), or who have requested bereavement leave on or before Wednesday, November 21, are not eligible to receive "other paid time."
